To miss a deadline And watch the sun setting in the sky To leave work early And wander lazily Through back lanes Of neighbourhoods To watch and listen And not think To hear laughter That's easily missed Amidst phone calls and busy Mondays To stop for a moment And notice the glint of delight In my daughter's eyes As she discovers something new In the garden patch growing wild To all the small things That silently pass by Unnoticed As we try to live someone else's life.
